A Consultation-Led Treatment

Soften & Refine

TrapTox is a popular name for botulinum toxin injections placed into selected areas of the upper trapezius muscles. Treatment may soften the appearance of prominent upper shoulders and create a more elongated-looking transition from the neck to the shoulders.

Every plan begins with an assessment of your anatomy, muscle activity, health history, goals, and activities that rely on shoulder strength.

Safety First

Candidacy Is About Anatomy & Function

TrapTox may be discussed with adults bothered by visibly prominent upper trapezius muscles or seeking a softer shoulder line. It may not suit people with certain neuromuscular conditions, active infection at injection sites, pregnancy or breastfeeding, swallowing or breathing concerns, significant baseline shoulder weakness, or other contraindications identified during consultation. Tell your provider about all medications, supplements, prior toxin treatments, surgeries, injuries, and activities that depend on upper-body strength.

Questions, Answered

TrapTox FAQ

Is TrapTox the same as shoulder-slimming Botox?

These names generally describe botulinum toxin placed in selected trapezius areas to reduce activity and potentially soften the upper-shoulder contour. The exact plan depends on anatomy and provider assessment.

Can TrapTox treat neck or shoulder pain?

A cosmetic TrapTox consultation is not a diagnosis or treatment plan for chronic pain. Neck or shoulder pain can have many causes and may require evaluation by an appropriate medical specialist.

When might changes become noticeable?

Botulinum toxin effects develop gradually. Timing, degree of visible change, and duration vary by person, muscle activity, product, dose, and placement.

Will TrapTox affect shoulder strength?

Weakness is a possible effect because treatment intentionally reduces activity in selected muscle fibers. Conservative planning is especially important for people whose work or training relies heavily on the shoulder girdle.

What risks should I know about?

Possible effects include pain, swelling, bruising, headache, asymmetry, undesired contour, neck or shoulder weakness, and difficulty with certain movements. Rarely, toxin effects can spread and cause swallowing, speaking, or breathing problems; urgent medical care is needed for those symptoms.

Pre & Post Care

This general guidance does not replace the individualized instructions from your treating clinician. Your plan may differ based on the exact product, device settings, treatment area, and health history.

Before treatment

  • Tell your clinician about prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, supplements, allergies, pregnancy, and recent procedures. Do not stop a prescribed medicine unless the prescriber and treating clinician tell you to.
  • Tell the injector about swallowing or breathing problems, neuromuscular conditions, prior botulinum toxin treatment, and infection near planned injection sites.

After treatment

  • Avoid rubbing or firm pressure on treated areas and follow your injector's individualized timing for exercise, positioning, makeup, and other procedures.
  • Keep injection sites clean and follow the office plan for tenderness or bruising.

Expected response

  • Small bumps, tenderness, headache, redness, or bruising can occur. Treatment effect develops gradually and varies by area and product.

Call the office

  • Contact the office for worsening redness, drainage, fever, marked asymmetry, eyelid or brow droop, or another unexpected response.
Get urgent help: Get urgent medical help for trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing; generalized weakness; double or blurred vision; or a serious allergic reaction.
